Fulvio Bonavia is an award-winning advertising and editorial photographer known for his uniquely inventive imagery. Born in Italy, he began his career as a graphic designer and illustrator of film posters, before devoting his energies to photography.
As a photographer, he brings his artistic and design sensibilities to every one of his pictures, doing all his own postproduction, so that his vision is maintained from start to finish.
Working between Milan and New York, his collaboration with the world’s best advertising agencies has led to the creation of some of the industry’s most iconic photography in recent years, with the awards to match, including recognition from the Art Directors Club and the Epica Awards, to a special prize as Best Photographer at the Festival della Comunicazione. In 2010, he won the “Photographer of the Year” award at the prestigious Mobius Awards in the USA.
Outside of the advertising industry, he has received numerous awards from institutions such as PDN in New York, American Photography, Communication Arts, the International Photography Awards and the Prix de la Photographie in Paris.
In addition to continuous artistic research, he regularly collaborates with magazines such as Vogue Gioiello, Vogue Accessory, Vogue Italia and Vanity Fair as well as with several luxury brands, helping to define their image with his distinctive style.
Haute couture with an unexpectedly edible edge inspired the subject matter of his first book, A Matter of Taste, published by Hachette, Australia in 2008, distributed in Australia, Brazil, France, Germany and Italy.
This collection of work was extended in 2009 to include accessories by Chanel, Cartier and Christian Louboutin, thanks to a collaboration with Le Figaro, which dedicated its cover to his work.
In the same year, his photography was exhibited at the Bon Marché in Paris to promote the French version of A Matter of TasteF, entitled Le goüt du luxe.

In 2011, the British magazine Garage commissioned him to create four images for its debut issue, along with contributions by Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, John Baldessari, Paul McCartney and Marina Abramovich. For this shoot, he chose not to focus on accessories, but rather to interpret whole looks by Prada, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Moncler, working alongside renowned fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia. The images created for this series were awarded at the Prix de la Photographie in Paris in 2012.
